A sunny Mother's Day in in May 2013 turned into a spectactular and raging inferno! After one grain elevator caught fire, the blaze continued with 2 additional grain facilities and 2 smaller buildings. The Hinrichs Trading Co grain elevator was initially on fire, next the Columbia Grain elevators. While it was quite a loss for the community, it was fortunately limited to property and commodites.
